Prishtina, October 22, 2009 – PRISHTINA – Ministry of Energy and Mining, Ministry of Finance and Economy and KfW have signed a memorandum of understanding on the funding of joint energy projects.

This document, signed by Minister Justina Shiroka-Pula, Minister Ahmet Shala and the representative of KfW, includes the main conclusions of the reached agreement, which will be subjected to the approval of the KfW management and German Government.

The memorandum includes projects of the 400kV transmission line between Albania and Kosovo, conditions for a successful operation of the excavator of the South-East Sibovc and additional funding for the excavator and improvements on the central heating.

After the completion of the rehabilitation of the excavator, projected for next year, the Ministry of Energy and Mining shall undertake all required measures to ensure an uninterrupted coal supply, thus providing a stable supply of electricity.

The Ministry of Energy and Mining shall commit to undertake all the required procedural and legal preparations, so that projects subjected to this memorandum are realized according to the projected timeframe.
