Prishtina, 22 October 2010 – The Minister of Energy and Mining invited all key stakeholders of the energy sector of the country, MEF, KOSTT, KEK, and ERO, to a meeting to discuss the serious problems caused by the intrusion of the Serbian transmission operator (EMS) with the energy system of the Republic of Kosovo.

The meeting was chaired by the Minister of Energy and Mining, Justina Shiroka – Pula, and present were the Chairman of the Board of Directors of KEK, Fadil Çitaku, Director of the Kosovo Transmission System Operator (KOSTT) – Fadil Ismaili, Director of the Kosovo Energy Corporation (KEK) – Arben Gjukaj,  Chairman of the Board of the Energy Regulator – Ali Hamiti, Head of the Public Enterprise Unit, Ramadan Sejdiu.
This meeting discussed about problems KOSTT and KEK have to tackle as a result of intrusions of the Serbian operator, and lack of legal Kosovo companies’ access to electricity facilities.

Participants of the meeting stated that Serbian intrusions cause serious problems to KOSTT in its operation, maintenance and secure electricity supply for the Kosovo’s energy system.

On this occasion, Minister Pula stated that MEM, with the support of all institutions, will use all institutional possibilities to find a solution to this problem.

The Minister stated that one day before, MEM had sent an official letter to all domestic and international institutions of policy and security, to inform them on the current situation, and thereby requesting their intervention to eliminate illegal activities of the Serbian operator on the country’s energy system.
