Prishtina, 01 December 2011 – Under the 16-day campaign against violence against women, a delegation of the Economic Development Ministry, namely its Human Rights Unit, visited the women’s association “Bliri” in Drenas, and the textile factory UNIKAT in Pejë.

The objective of the visit was to better understand the work of women in small and medium enterprises. Ti was confirmed after the visit that women also carry out heavy, as was the case with the Association “Bliri” in Drenas, and their woodwork activities.

Despite their activities being developed without any donor support for some time now, the women were ready to continue with manufacturing, and the Ministry offered strong institutional support.

The MED Delegation also visited the textile factory UNIKAT in Pejë, which currently has a staff consisting of 90% women, all of which doing extraordinary work.

MED officials assured that the Ministry will develop policies conducive to the local business development.
