MED Focuses on Information Technology Development

Prishtina, 05.09.2019 – The Minister of Economic Development, Valdrin Lluka, visited today the Information Technology (IT) Company Solaborate, where he was received by the company founder Labinot Bytyqi.

At the meeting, Minister Lluka said that his Ministry was willing to support entrepreneurs with the most promising IT projects in this sector through capacity building and facilitating the delivery of different equipment relevant to this field.

Among other things, Minister Lluka said: “Labinot today is investing in research, development and testing equipment, the equipment he needs to make his company successful. This was also our main conversation during my visit to Solaborate offices. How can the government help ensure that such companies thrive in the global marketplace? We talked about assistance ranging from human capacity building to importing equipment for manufacturing electronic boards for needs of companies like Solaborate.”

This project has managed to employ about 100 experts, programmers, and engineers, while also attracting world-renowned companies that will invest tens of millions of Euros in IT.

Minister Lluka further stated that: “The IT sector is more promising than any other sector in the country, not only because we have healthy and smart youth, but also because our companies in this field are doing an amazing job in developing such projects”.

The Ministry of Economic Development is focusing on infrastructure and skills development in the sector and this year has launched several major projects such as TechPark Prishtina, Kosovo Digital Economy, European Union IPA digital literacy funds, creative high and elementary schools and the Center for Digital Excellence in the Innovation Park in Prizren.
