Prishtina, 03.07.2018 – Minister of Economic Development Valdrin Lluka visited Vushtrri Municipality today. During his visit he met with Mayor Xhafer Tahiri, to whom he offered support in the implementation of projects that will have a direct impact on the welfare of citizens in Vushtrri Municipality.

Minister Lluka discussed with the Mayor of Vushtrri on strategic projects of the municipality, such as the wastewater treatment plant, energy and opportunities for organizing an economic zone.

“Without regular supply of electricity there can’t be a sustainable economic development, therefore MED stands ready to support the municipality in the implementation of municipal projects, and the best example for the implementation of projects of significance for the municipality is the inclusion of the Secondary Technical School in the energy efficiency project,” Minister Lluka said.

Dwelling on the water sector, Lluka said that MED and the Government of Switzerland are implementing a 18 million euro project, of which 8 million come from the Kosovo Budget and the remainder from donations. This project aims to integrate all villages in the regiona water supply system, and will include Vushtrri Municipality.

The head of MED also added that bearing in mind Prishtina and Mitrovica are developing wastewater treatment projects, the possibility of this municipality’s inclusion in such projects and expansion of the wastewater treatment plant distribution chain be reviewed.

During the meeting, the issue of economic zones was also discussed, knowing that Vushtrri has a very suitable position for economic development, with easy access to the highway and railroad, and 25 hectares of public land in a perfect setting to develop an economic zone.

The Mayor of Vushtrri, Xhafer Tahiri, thanked Minister Lluka for the visit and expressed his readiness to continue to cooperate in the future in the implementation of common projects.
