Lluka met with the European Commissioner, Mariya Gabriel, and requested support for Kosovo’s digital agenda

Prishtina, 19.04.2018 – As part of the Digital Balkans Summit held in Skopje, the Minister of Economic Development, Valdrin Lluka, met with the European Commissioner for Digital Economy and Society, Mariya Gabriel, with whom he discussed policies taken by the Government of Kosovo to strengthen digital transformation.

On this occasion, Minister Lluka requested support by Commissioner Gabriel for additional funds for new projects regarding industrial digitalization, digital transformation of small and medium enterprises, and education of children in this area.

Another important topic discussed in the meeting was Kosovo’s inclusion in the roaming agreement with all countries in the Balkans, which will be realized.

Lluka also participated in the Digital Summit of the Western Balkans in the first panel on Digital Skills, discussing the importance of the sector on economic development, and presented the upcoming project to expand the broadband network through the World Bank.

In addition, the Economic Minister visited the exhibition/fair of IT sector companies, which also included participation of Albanian companies.

Minister Lluka expressed his satisfaction with the large presence of companies and experts of Kosovo, who made possible for Kosovo to become a regional leader in ICT.
