Kosovo Seismological Network report regarding the earthquake in Theranda

Prishtina, 29.03.2022 – Based on the Seismic Network, the Geological Service of Kosovo and the Euro-Mediterranean Seismic Center, as well as the numerical analysis of the Kosovo Seismological Network, on 29.03.2022 at 10:03h local time, our country was hit by an earthquake of 2.8 magnitude according to the Richter scale, respectively of grade IV of Mercalli intensity scale.

The epicenter of this earthquake was 5 km southwest of Theranda, respectively in the coordinates 42.337 (latitude) and 20.779 (longitude), respectively, whereas the hypocentral depth was 3 km.

Due to the considerable depth of its core, the earthquake in question was notably felt by the residents of Prizren, Theranda, Rahovec and Shtërpce region.

Thus far, the Seismic Network does not possess data on eventual damages in the epicenter area.
