Prishtina, 09.09.2016 – The Inter-Ministerial Working Group of the Republic of Kosovo for the establishment of the One Stop Shop on Renewable Energy Sources (RES), headed by the Deputy-Minister of Economic Development, Besa Zogaj Gashi, and supported by USAID’s Repower Kosovo Project, have conducted a study visit in Denmark and Belgium to get acquainted with the most effective European practices in the processes of developing RES projects.

Under the auspices of this visit, the Kosovo delegation held separate meetings with senior officials responsible for licensing RES projects in the Government of Scotland, Danish Wind-Powered Energy Association, European Federation of Renewable Energy Sources, and the respective agency of the region of Wallonia, which holds a mandate equivalent to that of a One-Stop Shop.

These discussions resulted in exchange of experiences, which will help in the acceleration of the processes related to the development of projects and improving transparency in the energy sector.

The Ministry of Economic Development is dedicated to meet the compulsory target of having 25% of the final gross energy consumption covered by RES by 2020. Improvement of conditions for developing such projects is considered a key factor in the achievement of the RES target, by improving security of supply and mitigating environmental impacts through the generation of clean energy.
