Prishtina – 09.12.2019 – The Minister of Economic Development, Valdrin Lluka, is staying for a visit in Iowa, United States of America (USA) where, along with the President of Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC), Rob Denson, signed a cooperation agreement for training and certification of workers in Kosovo in various technical fields such as welder, electrician, builder, machine operator and many more.

The agreement foresees issuance of the KEK training center for use, while the DMACC shall bring the professors and trainers from the United States of America. This will help the country to generate skills that are currently lacking in Kosovo, and which are largely demanded by domestic and foreign companies.

The agreement is expected to commence with implementation within the first half of the year and the program is expected to be inaugurated in June 2020, during a visit by the Governor of Iowa, along with investors from this state.

Minister Lluka emphasized that; “During my two-day visit to Iowa, I met with my counterpart, Mrs. Debbie Durham, Iowa Economic Development Authority (IEDA) and the Iowa Finance, to whom I presented projects where businesses of Iowa could invest in Kosovo.

With Mrs. Durhan, we also agreed to include Iowa businesses during the visit of the Iowa Governor in Kosovo, and turn it into a business visit. The Iowa Governor, Kim Reynolds, will visit Kosovo in June of next year”, he added.

The visit was also followed by many other meetings, such as with Kosovo’s friend, now retired Iowa General Timothy Orr, and Deputy Secretary of State, Michael Ross.
