Kosovo – UAE business forum is proposed

Prishtina, 20 December 2011 – Minister of Economic Development (MED), Besim Beqaj, received today the Ambassador of United Arab Emirates in Ankara and the non-residential UAE Ambassador in Kosovo, Khalid Khalifa Al Mualla, with whom he discussed on the possibilities to intensify economic cooperation between the two countries.

At this occasion, Minister Beqaj presented the country’s economic development priorities and informed the UAE delegation on the projects under implementation and projects planned for the future, mostly concentrating on those in the sphere of energy, mining and telecommunication.

Minister Beqaj informed the UAE Ambassador on Kosovo’s potentials in the food processing sphere, underlining the fact that country continues to import a great part of its food products, and invited the UAE companies to invest in this sector, convinced that Kosovo will represent an adequate market for their investments.

On the other hand, Ambassador Khalid Khalifa Al Mualla emphasized that he will transmit the information obtained to his country, in order to supply the investors from his country with sufficient information on Kosovo’s investment climate.

Al Mualla notified Minister Beqaj on his interest to organize a common business forum for companies from Republic of Kosovo and the United Arab Emirates, whereas Minister Beqaj expressed the readiness of MED to support this initiative and other initiatives aimed at stimulating further economic cooperation.
