KFW a supporter of energy and water projects

Prishtina, 16.10.2017 – Minister of Economic Development Valdrin Lluka received today a senior delegation from the German Development Bank (KfW), headed by Christoph Tiskens – Director for Southeast Europe and Turkey, Joerg Meilicke – Director for Western Balkans and Rene Eschemann – Director for Kosovo and Macedonia, with which he discussed on projects in the sphere of energy and other fields covered by MED.

Minister Lluka used this occasion to thank KfW for the immense support granted to Kosovo in the sphere of economic development, with special emphasis on projects in the field of energy, waters and waste.

“We are grateful for the assistance that the German Development Bank gave Kosovo in key sectors, such as energy, water and waste. I trust that the close cooperation will continue in the future,” said Minister Lluka, adding that Germany has supported Kosovo in all of its steps of economic consolidation.

On the other hand, KfW representatives ensured Minister Lluka that support from KfW will persist in the future, with the aim of improving the quality of living for Kosovo citizens.

Director Tiskens said that cooperation with MED will continue, in order to ensure a successful implementation of projects currently in process.

Otherwise, three projects are currently under implementation, including the energy efficiency in public buildings at the local level project, wastewater treatment in Prizren, Gjakova and Peja project, and waste treatment company support project.

Minister Lluka also thanked KfW for the financial support granted for the development of the 400kV interconnection line with Albania, and used the meeting to discuss obstacles Kosovo faces regarding the commissioning of this important line.
