Inauguration of Energy Efficiency Measures at Tre Dëshmorët School

Klina, 28.03.2024 – Deputy Minister of Economy, Getoar Mjeku, participated in the inauguration of energy efficiency measures at Tre Dëshmorët School in the village of Jashanica e Lartë in Klina.

Efficient investments in the school have been implemented within the framework of projects of the Kosovo Energy Efficiency Fund (KEEF), with financial support from the European Union, the World Bank, and the Government of the Republic of Kosovo.

On this occasion, Deputy Minister Getoar Mjeku spoke about the importance of energy efficiency investments in improving learning conditions in schools for students and teachers, as well as in saving electricity.

He also emphasized that the Government of the Republic of Kosovo prioritizes energy efficiency and the development of new capacities from renewable sources. Mjeku added that the Ministry of Economy is finalizing the first auction of a 100 MW solar park, and soon the first auction of a 150 MW wind power plant will also be opened.

At Tre Dëshmorët School, investments have been made in external thermal insulation, the installation of a new central heating boiler, roof adjustment, replacement of old doors with new ones, and replacement of old lighting with new LED lighting.

Over the past two years, KEEF has implemented around 90 projects in various public facilities worth of approx. 12 million euros, with the support of the European Union, the World Bank, and the Government of the Republic of Kosovo.

Present at the inauguration of energy efficiency measures were Deputy Minister of Economy, Getoar Mjeku, Executive Director of the Kosovo Energy Efficiency Fund, Driton Hetemi, representative of the EU Office in Kosovo, Alessandro Bianciardi, Mayor of Klina Municipality, Zenun Elezi, and other representatives.
