Establishment of KOSTT as an independent controlling area/block under the Continental Europe Synchronous Area

Prishtina, 16.09.2015 – The Ministry of Economic Development, with the System, Transmission and Market Operator – KOSTT, Kosovo Energy Corporation (KEK), Kosovo Electricity Distribution System Operator (KEDS), Public Supplier (KESCO) and the Energy Regulatory Office (ERO), as of August 2015, started regular coordination meetings on the establishment of KOSTT as an independent controlling area/block under the Continental Europe Synchronous Area.

These meetings have a specific aim, which is to ensure that all stakeholders, in accordance with the scope and licenses, coordinate their activities to achieve a more effective balance during August and September 2015, as KOSTT is subjected to a monitoring by ENTSO- E, and is obliged to fulfill standards and ensure a balancing of the energy system, as envisaged in the legislation of Kosovo, in order to meet the technical conditions to enable KOSTT to be recognized as an independent regulatory area/block.

Meetings held during this period were successful, and KOSTT and other stakeholders shall continue their commitment to the operation and balancing of the Electricity System, in accordance with ENTSO-E rules.

MED and KOSTT appreciate the hard work of the entire working group, which consisted of KEK, KEDS, KESCO and ERO, and their professionalism and dedication during this period, and are also grateful to its customers for understanding that the establishment of new practices of operation and membership of KOSTT in ENTSO-E is a state strategy.
