Earthquake tremors felt in Kosovo territory caused by earthquake in Montenegro

14.03.2024 – Based on the Seismic Network, the Kosovo Geological Service, and the Euro-Mediterranean Seismic Center, as well as the numerical analysis of the Seismological Network of Kosovo, on 14.03.2024, at 04:06 local time, Montenegro was hit by an earthquake with a magnitude of 5.5 on the Richter scale, specifically with an intensity of VII on the Mercalli scale.

The hypocentral depth was 8 km.

The epicenter of this earthquake was 33 km northwest of Nikshiq and 107 km northwest of Peja, respectively, at coordinates: 42.981 (latitude) and 18.666 (longitude).

Due to its considerable depth and the amount of energy released through the propagation of seismic waves, the earthquake in question was clearly felt by the citizens of Kosovo, especially those in the Dukagjini region.
