E-Governance aims to increase citizen participation in decision-making

Prishtina, 24 March 2014 – The Minister of Economic Development, Fadil Ismajli, met today with representatives of the Estonian e-Governance Academy, Liia Hanni and Nele Leosk, assisting in the establishment of the electronic platform – “Today I decide”, which aims to increase citizen participation in decision-making processes.

Minister Ismajli thanked the Government of Estonia for its support in implementing this project in Kosovo, emphasizing that the Government of Kosovo is interested to include as many citizens as possible in decision-making, and that the electronic platform represents a good possibility for accomplishing this purpose.

For their part, representatives of the Estonian e-Governance Academy, Liia Hanni and Nele Leosk, informed Minister Ismajli on the phase of the implementation of this project, which based on the Estonian experience, will result in improving transparent governance through online citizen participation.

The platform “Today I decide” is realized with support from the Estonian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and e-Governance Academy, upon expression of willingness by the Government of Kosovo through the Ministry of Economic Development, as is being implemented by MED and the Office on Good Governance of the Office of Prime Minister.

Also, the implementation of this project is envisaged in the “Kosovo Digital Agenda”, approved by the Government of Kosovo in April 2013.
