Draft Law on Energy Efficiency forwarded to the Kosovo Assembly

Prishtinë, 21.05.2018 – In yesterday’s meeting, the Government of the Republic of Kosovo adopted the decision to forward for legislative review to the Assembly of Kosovo the Draft-Law on Energy Efficiency. The Minister of Economic Development, Mr. Valdrin Lluka, said on this occasion that “The Draft-Law aims to define the legal framework to be used in determining efficiency objectives, and fulfills requirements from all relevant EU directives.”

Additionally, the head of MED said that ‘with the establishment of the Fund, Kosovo will benefit 10 million euros from the European Union to be discharged in the fund”.

Financial means from donors comprise a commitment of the European Union, whereas the fund’s management and utilization is defined in rules set in system funds in the EU,” he added.

According to him, ‘positive effects of the fund shall include increased energy efficiency, diminished losses of energy in the household sector, improved level of environmental protection and other positive effects for household costs.”

Appointment proposal for the Board of Directors in the new Kosovo Energy Enterprise is reviewed

In the 48th meeting of the executive, the proposal for appointment of the Interim Board of Directors of the new Kosovo Energy Enterprise was reviewed.

Minister Lluka said that “upon establishment of this enterprise, MED has initiated the procedure for its establishment. This Board of Directors is appointed in accordance with the law and shall be an interim board for a six-month period,” he said.

Two members of the board of directors of “Iber Lepenci” appointed

Two members of the board of directors of Publicly-Owned Enterprise ‘Iber Lepenci’ were appointed in today’s meeting of the Government of Kosovo.

Minister Lluka said “The business of publicly-owned enterprises is a competency of the board of directors. Completing boards is a task Government responsibility. This board is not functional and the appointment of two members thereof is important.”

“Appointment of new members will be done from among members of the waiting list, as foreseen in the legal provisions. Two members proposed are Ejup Visoka, Mehmet Ballazhi,” he added.
