Digital economy makes Kosovo part of global competition

Prishtina, 22.06.2016 – Minister of Economic Development Blerand Stavileci, as part of his endeavors to visit private companies in the sphere of information technology, visited today ZAG Apps, a company specialized in the development of mobile phone applications and other online services.

Stavileci discussed with senior officials of ZAP Apps and informed them on the steps that MED has undertaken in order to ensure priority treatment of this sector by the country’s institutions, considering this sector one of the best opportunities for economic development and creation of new employment opportunities.

The Head of MED reminded that the Government of Kosovo, in cooperation with and supported by the World Bank, is working in defining the Kosovo Digital Economy Program (KODE), as a priority measure for the period 2016-2018, defined in the Government of Kosovo’s Economic Reform Program, which, among other, will enable the development of digital businesses and ensure that the country’s digital skills will be competitive globally.

On the other hand, ZAG Apps management informed Minister Stavileci on their company’s activities and challenges it faces.

Noteworthy, although active in the market for a relatively short time, ZAG Apps has a long list of clients it provides services to, including private companies, government institutions, universities and international aviation companies from USA, Canada, Germany and Holland.
