Prishtina, 11.05.2022 – The Deputy Minister of Economy, Mentor Arifaj, together with the Chief of Cabinet, Anyla Beqa, hosted a meeting with a delegation from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) composed of Mr. Gabriel Di Bella, Head of the IMF Mission to Kosovo; Ms. Stephanie Eble, Regional Representative for the Western Balkans and in charge of the Office in Kosovo; European Department, and economists from the European Department.

This meeting involved mainly discussions about the energy sector in our country. The Deputy Minister Arifaj informed the participants that the Ministry of Economy is in the stage of drafting the Energy Strategy 2022 – 2031, where he stated that a group of experts are working on this strategy.

During the meeting, it was stated that the Republic of Kosovo, as a member of the Energy Community Secretariat, aims to harmonize local legislation with that of the EU and the Green Deal.

Further, Deputy Minister Arifaj stated that the focus of the Government of Kosovo in this Strategy is the long-term path towards decarbonization by 2050, by maintaining the security of electricity supply, affordability for end consumers, increasing the use of clean energy, and ensuring economically sustainable integration into the regional market.
