Beqaj presents Kosovo potentials in London

Prishtina, 11.102012 – The Minister of Economic Development, Besim Beqaj, participated in the Kosovo – Great Britain Trade and Investment Conference, held in London on 10-11 October, where he presented Kosovo’s investment potentials to British investors and held a lecture at the Sheffield University.

Using the occasion, Minister Beqaj underlined that the Republic of Kosovo continues to improve its investment environment, noting the legislation and guarantees the country offers with the aim of promoting and protecting foreign investments.

MED Head emphasized that the potential investment sectors include energy, mines, information technology, food processing industry, metal processing industry, wood processing industry, textile industry, etc. while ensuring the investors that they will enjoy full institutional support.

Minister Beqaj underscored the orientations of the Government of Kosovo towards the strengthening of the private sector, which will be the bearer of the country’s economic development, and mentioned the engagement of the country’s institutions in conducting a structural economic reform and improved service provision.

Beqaj also informed the investors of the projects currently under development, including the privatization of 75% of the PTK shares, construction of ‘Kosova e Re’ Thermal Power Plant, renewable energy projects and the ongoing privatization of socially-owned enterprises.
