Arifaj and Gexha-Bunjaku visited the Regional Institute of Public Health in Peja and the MCFM in Deçan

Prishtina, 16.05.2022 – The Deputy Minister of Health, Ms. Dafina Gexha-Bunjaku, together with the Deputy Minister of Economy, Mr. Mentor Arifaj, visited today the Regional Institute of Public Health in Peja, the representatives of the Municipality of Deçan, the MFMC in Deçan, and the Regional Enterprise “Hidro-Drini” (water supply), in Peja and Deçan.

This visit was made due to concerns that in some villages of the municipality of Deçan the water is turbid as a result of rainfall.

The villages from which a small number of citizens have sought medical help are: Carrabreg, Prilep, Llukë e ulë, Prapaqan and Isniq.

Officials of the Regional Institute of Public Health in Peja have confirmed that water samples have been taken from these villages, and according to them upon physic-chemical analysis, the results are within the limits, but the results of bacteriological analysis are also awaited.

The two Deputy Ministers, Ms. Gexha-Bunjaku and Mr. Arifaj, stated that the Government of Kosovo is ready to respond to any recommendation and suggestion that comes from the competent institutions so that the situation is under control and the citizens are safe in every aspect.

They assure the citizens of Kosovo, more precisely the residents of the above-mentioned villagers of the municipality of Deçan, that there is no room for concern.

The officials of the above-mentioned institutions thanked the two Deputy Ministers of the Government of Kosovo for their interest and expressed their readiness for further cooperation.

Visits to the mentioned areas and the measures of the institutions of the Republic of Kosovo have followed because yesterday the Ministry of Health was notified by the NIPHK that, at the request of the Water Supply Enterprise “Hidro-Drini” in Peja, samples of drinking water were taken from some villages in Deçan due to concerns that water has become turbid as a result of rainfall.
