All inhabited areas of Kosovo now 100% covered by the internet

Podujevo, 21 March 2023 – At the Rilindja Primary School in Hertica, Podujevo took place the Kosova Connected event, attended by the Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, the Minister of Economy, Artane Rizvanolli, the Manager of the World Bank for Kosovo and Macedonia, Europe and Central Asia, Massimiliano Paolucci, representatives of the World Bank, Nicole Klingen and Natalija Gelvanovska-Garcia, the Mayor of Podujevo, Shpejtim Bulliqi, representatives from RAEPC, residents and students of the village.

Prime Minister Kurti stated in his speech that by investing in broadband infrastructure, we are breaking down barriers and ensuring that all citizens have equal access to the digital world. He also added that as a Government, we are committed to implementing inclusive digitalization that is expected to bring numerous benefits to our state and society.

Meanwhile, the Minister of Economy, Artane Rizvanolli, stated that in the Republic of Kosovo, 100% of inhabited areas are now connected to broadband internet and that Hertica was among the last villages to be connected to fast internet, and this achievement places Kosovo alongside the most developed European countries in terms of internet usage.

“Every citizen, every student and teacher in Kosovo, regardless of where they live, now has equal access to the internet and the information they need. Therefore, the construction of this infrastructure contributes to one of our main goals as a Government: social and economic equality”, stated Minister Rizvanolli.
