Prishtina, 17.12.2021- The Deputy Minister of Economy, Mentor Arifaj and the Rector of the University of Prishtina, Naser Sahiti, today distributed certificates to energy auditors certified for energy audits in buildings and public lighting.

The training was conducted by the Energy and Sustainability Center (ESC) which operates within the University of Prishtina (UP), which at this stage has trained 59 energy auditors. Due to the pandemic situation, in the ceremony organized at the Ministry of Economy, the certificates were solemnly awarded to only a limited number of auditors.

During this ceremony, Deputy Minister Arifaj said that it is important that these types of trainings continue in the future and added that it is really a pleasure to see the investments being made in training and preparation of candidates for energy audit in Kosovo, for buildings and public lighting.

Arifaj affirmed that the Ministry of Economy gives priority to energy efficiency. “Energy efficiency, including district heating, is being addressed with priority throughout the drafting of the Energy Strategy. We are happy that as soon as we finalize the first draft, which is expected to be in January, we will share it with you”, said Deputy Minister Arifaj.

On his part, the Rector of the University of Prishtina, Naser Sahitaj thanked all those who have contributed to the training and preparation of energy certifiers, because as he said, it is very important to develop a sustainable training system of auditors. Sahitaj assessed that UP has intellectual and professional capacities to provide training for energy auditors.

Certified auditors in this training group are from areas such as: architecture, construction, electrical and mechanical engineering. This is the second group of certified auditors, which leads the number of certified auditors to 114. The auditor training process will also continue in the future.

Otherwise, the Energy Auditor is a natural or legal person licensed to conduct energy audits.
