Prishtina, 24 April 2023 – Deputy Minister of Economy, Getoar Mjeku, and Chief Executive Officer of the Regional Water Supply Company (RWSC) “Hidromorava”, Ymer Salihu, signed a Memorandum of Understanding that defines responsibilities and the use of funds for the implementation of the project, financed by a loan from the European Investment Bank.

RWSC “Hidromorava” will receive a grant of 11 million euros to build a wastewater treatment plant and rehabilitate the sewer system in the region of Gjilan.

The project will serve 110,000 residents of the city of Gjilan and surrounding areas, protecting the environment, water resources, and public health. The planned investment will significantly reduce the amount of wastewater discharged directly into the rivers of the region.

RWSC “Hidromorava” is one of seven regional water supply and sewer enterprises owned by the Republic of Kosovo. It ended the year 2022 with a positive balance.
