Roundtable on gender equality in the energy sector
Prishtina, 21.03.2023 – The Ministry of Economy organized a round table on gender equality in the energy sector in Kosovo, including stakeholders such as KEK, KOSTT and ERO, which are part of the program for intensive gender integration led by the Engendering Industries (EI) project. The Engendering Industries program, funded by USAID, supports the leaders of institutions in the implementation of the plan for gender equality through training and mentoring.
The Deputy Secretary General of the Ministry of Economy, Leonita Shabani – Mullarama, welcomed the participants and thanked USAID for its continuous support and offered her inputs in the further development of gender equality in public institutions.
On the other hand, Jasmine Boehm, manager of the Engendering Industries project, also thanked the organizer of this roundtable, Florina Mehaj – Kosumi, Human Resources Manager in the Ministry of Economy, for the organization and moderation of this very fruitful roundtable for relevant institutions in the energy field.
The Transmission System and Market Operator (KOSTT), as one of the partners of the program, presented their results towards achieving gender equality in the company together with the Employee Life Cycle model. Also, collaborators from USAID Energy Sustainability Activity (ESA) discussed project activities that, through practical work, mentoring and cooperation with women’s associations in the energy sector, constantly strive to promote and empower gender equality and the integration of young women and men in the sector.
The participants agreed that such roundtables should be organized more often in order to exchange the experience and knowledge of the respective institutions that have advancement in the issue of gender equality.
The EI project collaborates with 127 organizations in 40 countries around the world.
Participants in the meeting were representatives from: Ministry of Economy, KOSTT, ERO, KEK and representatives from USAID Kosovo and the USAID Energy Sustainability Activity (ESA).
