Prishtina, 17.01.2022 – The Minister of Economy, Artane Rizvanolli met with the Civil Society representatives to coordinate objectives and activities regarding the drafting of the Energy Strategy 2022-2031.

During the meeting, Minister Artane Rizvanolli presented the vision that drives the Energy Strategy 2022-2031, but also Kosovo’s path towards decarbonisation by 2050.

Further, the Head of the Energy Department in the Ministry of Economy, Sabit Gashi presented the methodology and the process of drafting the Strategy, a work that is being done in cooperation with sector experts from all relevant institutions. Dr. Laszlo Szabo from the REKK Institute presented the content of the strategic document.

Increasing the security and quality of energy supply, financial affordability for consumers, as well as the path towards the decarbonisation process are the main objectives of the Energy Strategy 2022-2031.

The Government of the Republic of Kosovo is committed to drafting a comprehensive Strategy that will take into account all elements that will affect the fair energy transition for every citizen and business of Kosovo.

During the meeting was also discussed on the development of the energy sector with greater involvement of renewable energy sources in energy generation, implementation of energy efficiency measures, as well as reducing greenhouse gas emissions based on cost analysis of cheaper and more favourable options for our country.

The process of discussion and consultation with all relevant actors and stakeholders in the energy sector will continue until the finalization of the Energy Strategy, so that this process continues to be as transparent and accessible as possible to all relevant actors.
