Rizvanolli: KEC more than ever needs a professional leadership with integrity

Prishtina, 18.08.2021 – The Minister of Economy, Artane Rizvanolli together with the Prime Minister Albin Kurti visited the Kosovo Energy Corporation JSC / KEC JSC, respectively the Kosovo A Power Plant, the PLATO Coal Division and the Kosovo B Power Plant.

As the main energy company in the country, KEC carries the weight of electricity supply. Last year was a successful year for this important enterprise as it had marked an improvement in the performance of electricity generation by over 6 thousand GWh.

While this year, in the first six months, the coal exploitation plan has been exceeded, in which case 4.3 million tons of coal have been extracted. Uninterrupted and quality supply of electricity is a precondition for economic development in the country.

KEC faces environmental challenges, including the need for global decarbonisation and the need to operate sustainably using our resources in line with the goal of protecting the environment.

Therefore, investments to reduce pollution caused by power plants are necessary and KEC must be proactive and innovative in order to achieve diversification of energy generation by including renewable energy.

These challenges present the potential for its positive transformation and a fair energy transition for the country. Therefore, optimal management of power plants and mines must be guaranteed, and to ensure this, the Government will provide full support to KEC.

During the visit, Minister Rizvanolli emphasized that KEC more than ever needs a professional leadership with integrity, and one having a reform vision, but also the ability to plan and implement that vision.

Therefore, we invite all interested professionals to apply for the position of Chief Executive Officer of KEC in the public competition which continues to be open until August 23 this year.
