The Minister of Economy attends the meeting of launching the Economic Reforms Program 2022-2024

Prishtina, 23 July 2021 – The Minister of Economy, Artane Rizvanolli has attended the inter-ministerial meeting for launching the Economic Reforms Program 2022-2024. The meeting was attended by Hekuran Murati, Minister of Finance, Labor and Transfers, the ERP National Coordinator, Riccardo Serri, Deputy Head of the European Union Office, as well as the Ministers of MIET, MESPI, MAFRD, MEST and MoH, The Governor of the CBK and representatives of the OPM.

Based on the joint conclusions within the Economic and Financial Dialogue between the EU, the Western Balkans and Turkey, Kosovo, among other reforms, is encouraged to improve the accountability and performance of public enterprises.

Minister Rizvanolli said that in this regard, the MoE is planning to provide financial data of public enterprises on a quarterly basis, in order to assess the fiscal and credit risk of public enterprises, as well as drafting the Law on Public Enterprises and processing for approval by the Government by December 2021.

Also, according to the evaluation document of the European Commission (April 2021), one of the key sectors in terms of structural challenges, among others, is the exploitation of the potential of renewable energy sources and energy saving, and the full opening of the energy market.

Minister Rizvanolli said that the MoE has planned several actions to address the challenges in the energy sector, which include: review of energy sector legislation, drafting the Kosovo Energy Strategy, increasing incentives for energy efficiency in the residential and private sectors, as well as the concept document for addressing new competitive schemes for renewable energy generation sources.
