Deçan, 14.07.2021 – The Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Economy (ME), Mentor Arifaj, and the Manager of the Public Enterprise Monitoring and Policy Unit (PMU) met with the Board of the Regional Water Company (RWC) “Hidrodrini” J.S.C. to discuss about the latest situation with the poisoning of around 1500 inhabitants of Deçan and surrounding area.

During the joint meeting, the Board and the Management of RWC “Hidrodrini” J.S.C. presented to the Deputy Minister and the PMU Manager the results of chemical, physical and heavy metal analysis, which all resulted in compliance with the set limits.

In the meeting, the Board and the Management of RWC “Hidrodrin” J.S.C. explained to ME representatives the steps they have taken so far and field visits they have conducted, including at wells, pools and villages where there were reported cases of poisoning, however during the field visits they have not noticed anything extraordinary.

In addition, the ME representatives also met with the Mayor of Deçan, Bashkim Ramosaj, whereby assured him that ME is analyzing the latest data and water analysis results of past months to better understand the current situation and to find out the right cause.

It is worth mentioning that during the past few days, ME has been in constant contact with the RWC “Hidrodrini” J.S.C., as well as with all other stakeholders involved in the situation, to collect all relevant and current information with the aim at better understanding the situation and take further actions in this regard.
