Minister Rizvanolli met with women entrepreneurs to inspire digitalization and cross-sectoral cooperation

Prishtina, 30.06.2021 – The Minister
of Economy, Artane Rizvanolli, attended the cross-sectoral and inter-business
B2B meeting within the “ICT for the development of Kosovo” project, which was
developed by the Ministry of Economy in cooperation with the EU Office in
Kosovo and STIKK, and financially supported by the European Union.

 

During the meeting, Minister Rizvanolli stated
that employment of women, development of the ICT sector and digitalization are
among the most important priorities of the Ministry of Economy and of the
Government of Kosovo.

 

Minister Rizvanolli concluded that ICT Sector
is a sector that has a great potential for the development of young people skills,
for their employment within the country and abroad. It represents a potential
for economic development, not only for the ICT sector as such, but also for the
impact it may have on other sectors through digitalization.

 

“Kosovo today is a champion in the region and
comparable to the most developed EU countries, in terms of the extent and use
of the Internet”, said Rizvanolli, adding that future challenge is creating
opportunities, and use this infrastructure in the best possible way, putting
this sector in the function of the economic development of the
country.  

 

Speaking about businesses managed by women,
Minister Rizvanolli mentioned that researches show that women’s businesses, not
only have the potential for development in Kosovo, not only that women are
better borrowers than men, they actually do an excellent job in management,
employing other women as well.

 

During the event, the Minister met with women
who run businesses in the services, gastronomy and tourism sectors, to get
acquainted with their work and to inspire cross-sectoral cooperation in terms
of digitalization, with the aim at increasing exports and market competition.
