The Ministerial Meeting of the Western Balkans in the field of ICT, from 1 July there will be no roaming fees

Prishtina, 26.06.2021 – The Minister of Economy,
Artane Rizvanolli, participated in the Ministerial Meeting of the Western
Balkans in the field of ICT, organized by the Regional Cooperation Council held
in Podgorica, Montenegro, online.

 

In this meeting, they discussed the way to
preparations for a concrete, predictable and fixed-term roadmap for reducing
roaming differences between the European Union and the Western Balkans.

 

In the meeting, they also discussed the regional
perspectives for digital agendas, digitalization projects in line with the
Economic Investment Plan, as well as prospects for accelerating integration
into digital policies of the European Union.

 

Minister Rizvanolli said that the goal of the
Government of Kosovo is not only to enable consumers to use the services, but
also to increase their active involvement through access to services, efficiently
and at an affordable price. She added that despite the challenges we faced
during the COVID-19 pandemic, the Ministry of Economy is ready to implement all
points included in the roaming agreement.

 

Minister Rizvanolli emphasized that with the approval
of the Regulation by RAEPC, and the readiness of the mobile operators, from 1
July there will be no roaming tariffs in the six countries of the Western
Balkans.

 

Minister Rizvanolli also stressed the importance of
reducing roaming tariffs between the Western Balkans and the European Union,
and encouraged the EU and the RCC to facilitate this process.
