Prishtina, 10.11.2020 – On the occasion of the International day of Cities Planning, this event was marked at the Ministry of Economy and Environment through a joint roundtable with supporters of this sector and the winners of a photo contest were announced.

During this event, Minister Blerim Kuçi, in addition to the roundtable discussion with Shkëlqim Daci from GIZ and Arjeta Himaduna from UN Habitat, signed a memorandum of cooperation with UN Habitat, which is a continuation of assistance to the ministry in the field of planning.

The importance of urban planning was emphasized by Minister Kuçi, not excluding the problems that are in this field.

“Marking this important event, we are proving that Kosovo is following the global trend of spatial planning and that we are well on our way to creating a genuine platform for discussion, based on which we will plan policies, goals, objectives and future actions in this field “, stated Kuçi.

In this discussion were shown the achievements of the ministry in the field of planning, such as: Zonal Map of Kosovo, which has been completed as a document and is in the process of opinions and approvals from other government institutions, Spatial Plan for the National Park “Bjeshkët e Nemura” which has also been completed and is awaiting the same responses from government institutions and also the revision or Drafting of the new Spatial Plan for the National Park “Sharri” has been initiated.
On the other hand, MEA has approved nine (9) Municipal Development Plans and four (4) Municipal Zoning Maps.

As part of the organization of this event, in the lobby of the Ministry of Economy and Environment was opened the exhibition from the photography competition “My city during the pandemic”, where Minister Blerim Kuçi, together with Deputy Minister Burbuqe Deva-Bakija and the Director of the Institute for Spatial Planning, Luan Nushi, awarded prizes to the following winners: 1st place for Kushtrim Krasniqi, 2nd place for Arben Llapashtica and 3rd place for Astrit Makoku.
