Minister Kuçi promises support to “Infrakos” for the Financial Agreement for Subsidization

Prishtina, 22.09.2020 – The Minister of Economy and Environment, Blerim Kuçi visited today the Public Enterprise of Railway Infrastructure “Infrakos”.

Minister Kuçi was received by the acting chief executive of the enterprise, Xhevat Ramosaj and the rest of the management of this enterprise. Many concerns and problems of “Infrakos” were presented to the Minister, as the emphasis was placed on the multi-year delay of a financial agreement to subsidize this enterprise arising from the Law on Railways.

Minister Kuçi expressed his readiness to push forward this agreement together with Minister Arban Abrashi.

“Unfortunately, like many public enterprises, this enterprise also has financial problems and has various obligations. But we have an agreement in hand that is mandatory by the relevant laws, we will also look with Minister Abrashi that we are probably close to signing such an agreement, which guarantees the operational part of the functioning of Infrakos”, said Kuçi.

Together with Infrakos officials, Minister Blerim Kuçi also visited the workshop in Miradi, where work is underway on the project for general rehabilitation of the 10th Railway Line in the first phase Fushë Kosovë – Han i Elezit – Border with Macedonia. Project leaders presented the work they are doing, as it was revealed that the Covid-19 pandemic was one of the causes of project delays.

“Because of Covid-19 we have an unplanned dynamic, but I believe that now with the intensity and dynamics of the contractor we will not have major problems in terms of dynamics. In financial terms, this project has no problems. It is of special importance. It goes from Fushë Kosovë towards Macedonia. There are many objects within this project that are of particular importance. One important thing is the creation of a railway with EU standards, which has been more than necessary”, added Kuçi.
