Minister Blerim Kuçi reported to the Parliamentary Committee

 

Prishtina, 17.06.2020 – The Minister of Economy and Environment (MEE), Blerim Kuçi, reported today to the Committee on Economy, Employment, Trade, Industry, Entrepreneurship and Strategic Investments of the Assembly of the Republic of Kosovo, on the situation in the enterprise “Trepça Sh.A.” and public enterprises.

 

Minister Kuçi, in his capacity as the representative of the Government of the Republic of Kosovo, as the first shareholder of the Public Enterprise (PE) “Trepça Sh.A.”, presented a brief overview regarding this central public enterprise, where he emphasized that “Trepça” aims at sustainable economic development, through opening the way for investment, increasing the value of assets and advancing technical and technological capital, as a precondition for its revitalization as an enterprise of special and vital importance for the social welfare of workers and the general public interest.

 

In the interest of members of the Assembly of the Republic of Kosovo, on the dismissals and appointments of temporary board members, Minister Kuçi emphasized that he did not find any contentious element in the actions taken for the dismissals and appointments of temporary board members, except for the appointment of the Supervisory Board of “Trepça”, for which he said that he has requested a legal interpretation and will also request an interpretation from the Legal Office within the Prime Minister.

 

Mr Kuçi informed that he has recommended the Monitoring Unit of Public Enterprises to suspend the vacancies of the Chief Executives and other senior positions, as the Public Enterprises are operating with temporary boards.

 

The Minister of Economy and Environment, Blerim Kuçi also informed the members of the Commission about the initiative of announcing the vacancy for the regular boards of Public Enterprises.

 

This is the first report of the Minister of Economy and Environment, Blerim Kuçi, to the Parliamentary Commission since taking office.
