Prishtina, 10.06.2020 – The Minister of Economy and Environment, Mr. Blerim Kuçi, today met with the Minister of Justice, Mr. Selim Selimi, with whom he discussed about the fight against corruption and the country’s economic development.

The Minister of Economy and Environment, Blerim Kuçi, informed the press that they discussed the Economic Recovery Plan, in order to establish, as soon as possible, a legal framework for the implementation of the economic recovery, which is part of the Government Program 2020-2023.

“We are here together with the Minister of Justice, to convey the message that rule of law is the cornerstone of economic development. We discussed about coordination between our two ministries in terms of rule of law. In our Government Program 2020-2023, Rule of Law is the basic element of economic development”, stated Mr. Kuçi.

Regarding the recovery plan for an economy hit by the COVID-19 pandemics, Minister Kuçi stated that they have at their disposal the Decisions of the Kurti Government, with regard to emergency measures and supporting private businesses, and will try to implement the same, but as the Minister stated, there are legal issues, and although the decision has been issued, its implementation will be impossible unless the budget is reviewed, and consequently requested from the Assembly of the Republic of Kosovo to issue a decision for implementing the decision of the Kurti government.

Whereas, the Minister of Justice Selim Selimi emphasised that rule of law is the basis of economic recovery and reaffirmed that the Ministry of Justice with its capacities, will be in full disposal for the implementation of this plan.
