The Government establishes the Technical Group on assessment of ‘Trepça’ assets

Prishtina, 01.08.2018 – The Government established a technical working group tasked to conduct an assessment of all assets under the ownership of Socially-Owned Enterprise Trepca J.S.C., and to include all feasible assets in the statute of Trepca J.S.C.

Minister of Economic Development Valdrin Lluka said that the group tasked to perform asset assessment shall prepare a final proposal for the Government no later than three months upon the adoption of the decision on its establishment.“MED took great caution, under the scope of its competencies, to also respond to remarks and concerns raised by the Miners’ Union, especially those that are a result of the lack of coordination or disagreements between the Board and members of the board.

Through constant dialogue, a number of concrete measures were identified and an agreement was reached to treat them in working groups or expert groups, which are to give concrete responses to substantial issues, including the proposal to include physical assets under the auspices of Trepca J.S.C.” Lluka said.

As regards the Technical Working Group on treatment and provision of solutions for all social issues raised by the Trepca Miners’ Union, the head of MED said that the group will be tasked to find the best and most acceptable solutions.

The technical group shall comprise two representatives of the Ministry of Economic Development, one representative of the Office of Prime Minister, one representative of the Independent Commission for Mines and Minerals, one representative of the Trepca Board, one representative of the Trepca Management, two representatives of Trepca Miners’ Union and one independent expert.
