Kosovo and Albania discuss on acceleration of steps for roaming abolishment

Prishtina, 19.07.2018 – Republic of Kosovo and Republic of Albania committed to taking the necessary steps, in both legislative and technical aspects, to accelerate procedures to abolish roaming between two countries, in the shortest possible term.

To this end, a meeting of delegations of Kosovo, headed by Minister of Economic Development Valdrin Lluka, and Albania, headed by the Deputy-Minister of Infrastructure and Energy Dorina Cinari, was conducted today, and attended by the sponsor of the Assembly of Kosovo resolution on abolishment of roaming, Dardan Molliqaj, and ARKEP Chairman, Kreshik Gashi.

The meeting was used to review the possibility of entering into inter-operator agreements and to at least pilot the abolishment of roaming during the season, to precede the signature and execution of relevant sovereign agreements between the ministries and technical agreements between the electronic communication regulators of both countries.

Abolishment of roaming is an important service that will enable Kosovo and Albanian businesses and citizens a more efficient and less costly communication.

It was concluded that very soon roaming tariffs between Kosovo and Albania will be a subject of the past.
