Italian companies interested in investing in energy and waste recycling

Prishtina, 30.05.2018 – Minister of Economic Development, Valdrin Lluka, met today with a delegation of Italian investors accompanied by Giovanni Pontotti – Honorary Consul of Kosovo in Italy, with whom he talked about investment opportunities in Kosovo, specifically in the energy sector.

On this occasion, Minister Lluka informed the Italian businessmen of the opportunities offered by the country for foreign investments, underlining the measures the Government has undertaken to advance its legal and institutional framework to improve the business environment.

The Minister highlighted that the Law on Strategic Investment follows this line, and aims to encourage, attract and create the conditions for realization of investments, where energy, among others, is prioritized.

The Minister informed the businessmen on the resources the country provides in terms of energy, and invited them to invest in renewable resources and energy efficiency as areas with high potential for economic development.

From their part, the Italian investors expressed their interest in investing in wind energy, and recycling and waste management. For this, they have agreed to apply as strategic investors, where investments are expected to be around 37 million EUR generating around 100 jobs.
