Lluka appraises the positive performance of HC “Iber-Lepenc”

Prishtina, 22.12.2017 – Minister of Economic Development Valdrin Lluka, and his associates, visited today Hydro-Economic Company “Ibër Lepenc” j.s.c. Prishtina, and met its Chief Executive Officer Januz Kabashi, to get acquainted with the current state of affairs in this company, and challenges it faces.

CEO Kabashi informed Minister Lluka that HC “Ibër Lepenc”, an enterprise that conducts activities of supplying unprocessed water for electricity supply and irrigation, is an economically feasible company, with no problems in management, and a company that has never required financial assistance from the shareholder – the Government of the Republic of Kosovo.

He informed the Minister that between January and November 2017, company’s operative profit was around 12.3% and that its income is by 0.98% higher than the envisaged planning, amounting to a 7.71% increase in comparison to last year.

The meeting was also used to discuss on the 22 million euro World Bank Project envisaged for the company, 7 of which to be invested in Mihaliq reservoir and 15 granted as a loan with a 5-year grace period.

Minister Lluka promised that MED will fulfill its obligations, including the establishment of the Steering Committee, as soon as possible, in order to ensure that this project is promptly implemented.

The Head of MED appraised the performance of this company, reiterating the orientation of the institution he heads towards improving POE performance, including advancement of their services and enhancement of their financial sustainability.

Some of the other issues addressed in the meeting were the Lepenc feasibility project, considered of strategic significance for the country, problems related to debts that other companies owe Ibër Lepenc, and the contract with KESCO.
