Minister Lluka informed the IMF on MED’s priorities

Prishtina, 06.10.2017 – The International Monetary Fund (IMF) will continue to provide support to Kosovo in order to maintain the financial stability and create conditions for sustainable growth, stated IMF representatives in a meeting held today with the Minister of Economic Development Valdrin Lluka.

IMF Delegation, composed of Jacques Miniane, outgoing IMF Chief of Mission for Kosovo, Stephanie Eble, new IMF Mission Chief for Kosovo, Ruud Vermeulen, Resident Representative for Kosovo, and Brooks Weiss from the Fiscal Affairs Department (IMF), expressed an interested in current economic developments in the country and MED’s priorities.

Minister Lluka informed the IMF representatives on his priorities during this mandate, specifically in energy, mining and information technology sectors, stating that projects in these sectors will have an accelerated implementation dynamic.

The Minister also focused on his plan to enhance the performance of Publicly Owned Enterprises, which are considerable public budget spenders. Among other things, the Minister promised they will not remain indifferent to the problems of POEs.

The IMF representatives highlighted the good co-operation they have with the Kosovo Government and the ministerial staff, and expressed conviction that this cooperation will continue further in order to promote sustainable economic development.
