Deputy Minister Zogaj Gashi visited Greece, discussing economic cooperation

Prishtina 10.06.2016 – Deputy Minister of Economic Development, Besa Zogaj-Gashi, held an official visit to Greece, with the support of the Ambassador of the Greek Liaison Office in Prishtina, where she was hosted by senior officials of the Foreign Ministry as well as various economic forums.

During the meeting with the Deputy Foreign Minister, Maria Kollia Tsaroucha, Deputy Minister Zogaj-Gashi highlighted the achievements and challenges of Kosovo not only in the region but also beyond, its economic development and opportunities for further collaboration between the two countries.

“As an important aspect for Kosovo, which just received the “green light” for EU visa liberalization and aspires to be part of the European family, the need was addressed to further intensify the relations between the countries.

Deputy Minister Zogaj-Gashi and adviser Ratibe Ismaili – Dreshaj, held meetings with Voula Tektonidou, Deputy Secretary General for Economic Relations and Development, Nikolaos Yotopoulos, First Consul of the Ministry of Environment and Energy, Vasileios Likias, General Director of the Center for renewable Energy and Yiorgos Tsipras, the Secretary General for Economic Affairs at the Foreign Ministry.

Economic development, Kosovo’s integration in the European Union, and energy were subjects of meetings where Deputy Minister Zogaj-Gashi received promises that soon a common agenda will be developed to hold economic forums and increase Greek investments in Kosovo.

Also, the Deputy Minister was hosted in a meeting by Mandrinos Ioannis, President of the Hellenic Business Association, where they talked about the exchange of visits and strengthening of economic cooperation between the two countries.

Representatives of one of the largest companies of solar energy in Greece, Air Sun S.A, Leonidas Kontos, and Alexandra Korticelo, expressed their special interest to invest in Kosovo, as a country with a development potential in this direction.

Kosovo delegation was also welcomed by Pavlina Ylli, Consul of Albania in Thessaloniki, which provided support and assured the Kosovo party that they will serve as a catalyst for strengthening the cooperation between Kosovo and Greece.
