An earthquake of 3.8 magnitude in Richter scale hits west of Istog

Prishtina, 24.02.2015 – Based on data of the Seismic Network of
Kosovo Geological Service (MED) and Euro-Mediterranean Seismic Center,
and the numeric analyses of the Kosovo Seismic Division, on 23.02.2015,
around 22:04 local time, our country was hit by an earthquake of 3.8
magnitude in the Richter scale, respectively at V1/2 in Mercalli scale.

The
epicenter of this earthquake was 13 km west of Istog, 10 km north-east
of Peja, 67 km of Prishtina, respectively at the following coordinates:
42.74 (latitude) and 20.35 (longitude), at a depth of 2 km.

Due to the considerable depth of the epicenter, the earthquake was felt by both residents of Peja and other part of our country.

So far, Seismic Network of the Kosovo Geological Service does not possess any data on eventual damages around the epicenter.
