KRPP PSC approves the Request for Proposals and Project Agreements

Prishtina, 24 April 2014 – The Kosova e Re Power Plant Project Steering Committee, chaired by the Minister of Economic Development, Fadil Ismajli, convened for its regular meeting to discuss documents presented to the Project Steering Committee for endorsement. During the meeting, the Project Steering Committee approved the Request for Proposal and Project Agreements and requested their submission to potential investors.

PP Kosova e Re PSC was informed by the Transaction Advisor on comments received by different project stakeholders, respectively by International Financial Institutions (World Bank, EBRD, IFC), local institutions (MF, MESP, MLSW, MTI, OPM, ICMM), including energy and mining sector economic operators (KEK, KOSTT, KEDS) and the European Commission.

PSC was also informed on meetings held with all project stakeholders and actions undertaken towards the coordination of all stakeholder viewpoints. After the decisions to restructure the Project, including the removal of the mine from the transaction, the documents were revised in order to ensure a feasible project and provide affordable electricity prices for final consumers, efficient operation of units and environmental protection in line with EU standards.

In the meeting, assessments on technical and unit efficiency requirements for the Kosova e Re Power Plant project were presented to the PSC. The PSC also received preliminary information on the level of communication to date with potential lenders, and information on Terms of Reference pertaining to the detailed mining production plans and mining investment plans.
