Minister Ismajli presents Kosovo’s economic opportunities in London

Prishtina, 25 January 2014 – The Minister of Economic Development, Fadil Ismajli, visited London as part of the Republic of Kosovo’s delegation headed by Hashim Thaçi, which participated in the 7th Conference of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, part of which was also the high level forum on investments in Western Balkans.

This event gathered prime ministers, ministers, political decision-makers and entrepreneurs, who discussed on climate changes, diversification of energy sources, infrastructure and commercial integration of Western Balkans.

In the margins of the EBRD Conference, Minister Ismajli held separate meetings with senior officials of EBRD and financial institutions like DFID, etc. with which he discussed on possibilities for closer cooperation.

During the meeting with Richard Teuten, Coordinator of the Department for Financial Institutions (DFID), Minister Ismajli informed his counterpart on the most recent developments in the energy sector, including those related to the Kosovo Energy Strategy, and on the steps undertaken towards its implementation.

Minister Ismajli emphasized the significance of energy efficiency, as one of the priorities of this strategy, and its implementation through financial initiatives, adequate legislation and public information, aimed at ensuring investments in private and public buildings and use of efficient equipment.

Minister Ismajli had a special meeting with the former NATO Secretary General, Lord George Robertson, whom he thanked on the support provided to Kosovo in its toughest moments, and praised for his personal contribution in Kosovo’s journey towards freedom.

The Head of MED expressed the highest evaluations for Lord Robertson’s engagement in the encouragement of foreign investments in this development phase, which will undoubtedly be beneficial for Kosovo and its citizens.

Part of Kosovo’s delegation in the 7th Conference of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) were also Prime Minister Thaçi, Minister of Finance Besim Beqaj, Minister of European Integrations Vlora Çitaku, and Minister of Trade and Industry Bernard Nikaj.
