Continue preparations for the new Code of the Republic of Kosovo telephone

Prishtina, 19 February 2014 – The Minister of Economic Development, Fadil Ismajli, visited today the Principality of Monaco, where he met Marie Pierre Gramaglia, Minister of Urban Development of the Government of Monaco, Robert Colle, Secretary General of the Government of Monaco and Richard Milanesio – Advisor to the Prince of Monaco.

The meeting was used to discuss on the developments and process regarding the obtainment of the new telephony code by Republic of Kosovo. Minister Ismajli informed Minister Gramaglia on the general economic developments in Kosovo, underscoring developments in the sphere of telecommunications.

In this aspect, the head of MED received strong support by Minister Gramaglia, who among other confirmed her readiness and the willingness of the Government of Monaco to support Kosovo in obtaining its new national telephone code.

Gramaglia said that the Government of Monaco remains highly interested in continuing and deepening cooperation with Kosovo, while underlining her country’s unreserved readiness to support Republic of Kosovo’s transition to its national telephone code.

Such support of the Government of Monaco is rather important, due to the fact that the national Monaco code is utilized by the VALA mobile operator since the beginning of its operation.

Also, Minister Ismajli met Denis Martin, Member of the Board, Martin Peronnet, Executive Director, and other senior management representatives of Monaco Telecom, who, along with PTK management, provided a presentation on technical assistance to PTK and preparations for the implementation and migration to the new Kosovo telephone code.

During the meeting discussions also focused on other issues and opportunities for advancing economic cooperation and attracting potential investments in Kosovo by Monaco investors.
