Project Steering Committee of the “Kosova e Re” Power Plant approved the Tender Documents

Prishtina, 05.04.2013 – Project Steering Committee of the “Kosova e Re” Power Plant approved the Tender Documents today for the Construction of the Kosova e Re power plant, which will be implemented with a private-public partnership.

With the publication of the Request for Proposal, pre-qualified bidders will be provided with draft Project Agreements, including: Implementation Agreement (GenCo); Implementation Agreement (MineCo); Power Purchase Agreement (KRPP); Lignite Supply Agreement (Kosovo A); Lignite Supply Agreement (Kosovo B); Lignite Supply Agreement (KRPP); Multilateral Lignite Supply Agreement; Water Supply Agreement; Shared Services Agreement (KRPP), etc.

Existing employees of the Coal Division and from common services of the coal division will be transferred under the existing conditions, in line with Labor Law, to the future investor, and will receive a 3-year guarantee for their workplaces.

The Committee was informed that the remaining prequalified companies in the race for Kosova e Re power plant are PPC and Sithe Global, Park Holding Ciner Group and Contour Glaobal.

The Committee has made arrangement for the submission of bids to occur in November 2013. Selection of the preferred bidder is planned to be made public in January 2014, and commercial closure is expected to occur in September 2014.

Financial closure and transfer deadline is expected to occur in December 2014, when new generation capacities are expected to happen.

The plan is that the first unit will be commissioned no later than December 2018 and the second unit six months later.
