Beqaj attends the Third Global Energy Basel Summit

Prishtina, 22.01.2013 – Minister of Economic Development, Besim Beqaj, is attending the Third Annual Global Basel Summit in Basel, Switzerland, where the central topic will be new financing for sustainable infrastructure and strategic challenges.

During the Summit, Minister Beqaj will present achievements of the Republic of Kosovo in infrastructure and energy, as well as the domestic institutional and legal framework.

The Minister will also inform the attendees on ongoing energy projects, and the focus of the Government to increase Energy Efficiency and development of Renewable Energy Sources.

On this occasion, Beqaj met with Ambassador Beatrice Maser, Head of the Swiss Cooperation and Development Office (SEECO) and Ambassador Michaekl Gerber, of the Swiss Development and Cooperation Agency (SDC).

The Minister expressed his gratitude for the extensive assistance of the Swiss Government for many projects development in our country, including in energy, water-supply, wastewater and waste processing, and institutional capacity building.

Minister Beqaj called representatives of Swiss international cooperation agencies to attend the Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Conference which is expected to be organized in the first quarter this year.
