Prishtina, June 25, 2009 – Ministry of Energy and Mining (MEM) was host to the meeting of the Sub-working Group on Energy (SWG was established under the activities for European integration), with the participation of senior representatives of MEM, MEST, ERO, KOSTT and KEK. The meeting was also attended by representatives of the European Commission Liaison Office in Kosovo.

Issues which were discussed in the meeting were the identification of activities required to be undertaken in the short-term, following the STM meeting on Infrastructure (Energy) held on June 5, 2009. The meeting was chaired by the Deputy Minister of Energy and Mining, Dr. Blerim Rexha, who also presented a summary of tasks for institutional actors of the energy sector, deriving from the STM meeting on Infrastructure on June 5, 2009.

After discussions, the meeting concluded with the identification of several priority needs for assistance by the European Commission in order to address some of the challenges of the Energy Sector, such as issues addressed in the EC Progress Report on Kosovo for 2008, which were reiterated by EC representatives in the STM meeting on Infrastructure of June 5, 2009.
