The training on International Instruments on Human Rights

Prishtina, March 24, 2009 – With the organization of the Human Rights Unit (HRU) of the Ministry of Energy and Mining (MEM), MEM staff finished a one-day training on “International Instruments on Human Rights and Anti-Discrimination Law”. The training was aimed at raising the awareness of the employees on the instruments provided by the Law and International Conventions on Human Rights.

On this occasion, Arbërore Bernica, MEM Human Rights Unit Coordinator, said that familiarity with international instruments that protect human rights is necessary, and familiarity with the Anti-Discrimination Law adopted by the Kosovo Assembly is of particular importance. “Familiarity with the Anti-Discrimination Law, adopted by the Kosovo Assembly is important for all staff members, since the law provides all possibilities for everyone to protect ones rights. Familiarity with the Kosovo Anti-Discrimination Law also provides everyone with the essential information that laws adopted by the Kosovo Assembly are advanced and as such provide sufficient opportunities for the protection of human rights”, said Bernica.

Iliriana Islami, professor in UP and OSCE Advisor, also lectured in this training.
She encouraged the attendees to be familiar with all international instruments provided by different Conventions, and added that familiarity with these documents develops and enhances every country.
