The European Investment Bank expresses its readiness to support Kosovo

Prishtina, 07 June 2013 – The Minister of Economic Development, Mr. Fadil Ismajli, and his associates, met today with a delegation of the European Investment Bank (EIB), led by its Vice-President, Mr. Anton Rob, in a meeting attended by the Head of EU Office in Prishtina, Mr. Samuel Zbogar.

Minister Ismajli informed the EIB delegation on the Ministry of Economic Development’s main activities and on processes Kosovo is going through, towards ensuring a sustainable economic development.

He added that the signature of a Framework Agreement of cooperation between Kosovo and EIB would be very beneficial and would support the implementation of projects that will give a significant contribution to economic growth and enhancement of employment in the country.

The meeting with the EIB delegation was focused on energy sector developments and the necessary support in this sector, including renewable energy sources and energy efficiency, while reviewing the possibilities for further support in other sectors covered by MED.

For his part, Mr. Anton Rop, Vice-President of EIB, informed Minister Ismajli that the European Investment Bank stands ready to support Kosovo in projects deemed significant for the country, mostly in public infrastructure projects, energy sector projects and the sphere of private sector support.
