Women in Tech Global hosts discussion on Women in Technology and Entrepreneurship in Kosovo

Prishtina, 17.04.2024 – Acting Secretary of the Ministry of Economy, Leonita Shabani-Mullarama, and Chief of Staff of the Ministry of Economy, Anyla Beqa, participated in yesterday’s meeting organized in Prishtina by the Women in Tech Global Movement with women leaders in the field of technology.

The meeting was supported by UNWomen, and alongside the women leaders from Kosovo, the founder of the Women in Tech Global Movement, Ayumi Moore Aoki, was also present.

The aim of the meeting was the visit of the Women in Tech director and networking with women in the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) sector, creating cooperation opportunities, sharing women’s experiences, and exploring ways to empower women in the technology and entrepreneurship field.

The Ministry of Economy (ME) is responsible for national policies and strategies in the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) sector, and ME representatives informed that ME is making continuous and comprehensive efforts to support the development of this sector so that ICT can be a promoter of Kosovo’s economic development.

Furthermore, during the meeting, they discussed Kosovo’s Digital Agenda 2030, Kosovo’s IT Strategy, the support given to women under the emergency energy package, subsidy measures for NGOs in the ICT field, and the trainings organized by the KODE project, with special emphasis on training women in digital skills, expressing readiness for cooperation with UNWomen and Women in Tech to advance the ICT agenda.

On a different note, the mission of the Women in Tech Global Movement based in Paris is to support career development of women in the technology industry, business, and advocacy through programs and cooperating, building skills and confidence for women to be prepared for success.
